The challenge

A new radio station may need coordination with existing stations to support coexistence and avoid harmful interference. Identifying those stations involves more than searching a frequency: geography, antenna characteristics and radio-service rules can all affect the result.

Founder’s role & software contribution

Our founder independently designed and developed an engineering tool that determines which existing radio stations may require coordination when a new station is proposed. Users specify the relevant radio service, location and technical parameters.

The engineering problem

The system evaluates frequency, geographic separation, antenna characteristics, radio-service rules and other service-specific engineering criteria. Services may include satellite, mobile, broadcasting, fixed and other radio services. Results identify stations for which coordination may be necessary, rather than implying automatic approval.

Why it mattered

The tool converts a complex station-search and engineering-analysis workflow into an automated process, allowing the engineering review to focus on the relevant coordination candidates.
