The challenge

Engineers and licence holders need to understand whether a Canadian Tier 5 service area is highly congested, moderately congested or not congested. The classification matters because different technical requirements may apply, including requirements related to antenna radiation patterns.

Founder’s role & software contribution

Our founder independently designed and developed an interactive engineering tool that maps spectrum congestion across Canada using Tier 5 service areas. The tool combines geographic data, spectrum information and regulatory rules in a visual interface.

The engineering problem

The software connects a geographic area to its congestion classification and the relevant technical context. This makes a location-based requirement easier to explore without requiring users to manually reconcile geographic and regulatory datasets.

Why it mattered

Engineers and licence holders can quickly understand which technical requirements may apply in a particular location. Applicable current requirements must always be checked against the authoritative source; no regulatory determination is made by the illustrations on this site.
